Flourish – Yulagh Fraser Physiotherapy

Client: Yulagh Fraser
Project lead & client management: Unfold
Design: Unfold

Yulagh, a physiotherapist specialising in women’s pelvic health, asked Unfold to design a new logo for her practice. We started with an hour-long conversation to understand her vision—how she sees her practice and how she wants her clients to feel. Through these conversations, it became clear that Yulagh’s goal is to empower women to seek help for issues that can be sensitive and deeply personal. She wanted her practice to feel like a safe, welcoming space—somewhere women can talk openly, receive treatment, and feel supported on their path to better health.

In search of a strong feminine icon

To get the ideas flowing, we started with Pinterest, gathering visuals to inspire the icon designs that would follow. One of Yulagh’s earliest ideas was to combine flowers with a female pelvis—or perhaps use a flower that symbolises female pelvic health. As we explored different line drawing options, we kept coming back to the pelvis itself. The shape of the pelvis felt central—it represents a woman’s foundation, ties in with balance, and brings us back to basics. These ideas aligned perfectly with the feeling Yulagh wanted her brand to convey. We experimented with combining flowers and the pelvis shape to represent growth, blooming, and flourishing. While some designs almost worked, we soon realised the icon was saying ‘florist’ louder than ‘physiotherapist’. At the same time, we were exploring business names—and that’s where the flowers found their place. The result? Flourish – Yulagh Fraser Physiotherapy, a name that feels empowering, positive, and true to her vision.

Some icon explorations along the way.

Finding the icon form

From our early sketches, one icon stood out — a heart-shaped, symmetrical pelvis that felt both feminine and strong. This design emerged naturally as we traced over the pelvis shape, and we loved how the heart shape appeared in the negative space—a subtle yet powerful detail. To connect this line icon to the word Flourish, we added a soft gradient resembling a translucent petal, reinforcing themes of growth, balance, and vitality.

A new identity needs a document

We created a clear, well-structured document outlining Flourish’s brand identity—complete with logo guidelines, colour palette, fonts, and examples showing how the elements work together. This gave Flourish’s web developer everything they needed to build a website that feels consistent and true to the new brand.

Social media templates for fast communication

To help Flourish share updates quickly and professionally, we created editable Canva templates that are easy to use and aligned with their new brand. Canva is one of our go-to tools for small businesses—it allows business owners to adapt their content confidently, without needing to become a graphic designer too.
